Does Datacor Have AI?

By Airdev. We build custom AI order entry for distributors running Datacor: built to match your exact process, owned by you, with no per-order fees. This guide is what we've learned doing it.

Yes, and it is shipping product, not announcements. Datacor has sold document-capture automation since 2023, upgraded it to AI-based capture that adapts to new document formats in its Winter 2026 release, ships agentic accounts payable, named a Chief AI Officer in May 2025, and runs a managed data lake with natural-language query. Of the distribution ERPs we research, Datacor is the furthest ahead on first-party order-document intake.

What Datacor doesn't publish is pricing, accuracy commitments, workflow detail, or which of its two ERP code lines each capability ships on. This page lays out the verified timeline and the open questions, because those are what's missing from Datacor's own materials.

The verified timeline

Everything below comes from Datacor's own materials (launch posts, webinars, a conference agenda), but the dates check out and the products are shipping.

One comparison is worth stating plainly, and it's our observation from researching these ERPs side by side, not anything Datacor claims: the record below puts Datacor two-plus years ahead of where Epicor sits on first-party order-document intake for its distribution ERPs.

  • August 2023: Datacor introduces the Office Automation Suite, pairing Rapid Order Entry with AP invoice automation, both built on intelligent data capture.
  • May 2025: Sundar Kuppuswamy is named Chief AI Officer, a title few ERP vendors this size have.
  • February 18, 2026: the Winter 2026 release upgrades order automation to AI-powered data capture that Datacor says can "extract information directly from PDFs, understand context, adapt to new formats, handle varied layouts, and automatically create sales orders." Accounts payable becomes agentic in the same release.
  • June 10, 2026: a Datacor webinar confirms the AI order entry is available now, describes LLM-based document classification and extraction, and lays out DataLab, a Datacor-managed data lake with dashboards and natural-language query.
  • Alongside the releases, datacor.com now organizes its AI branding into three names: VisionAI for document processing, DataLab for data, and a Chemical Database for regulatory research.

What's still not public

Datacor publishes no pricing for any of this. Accuracy claims stop at "up to 90%" for VisionAI document processing, with no SLA behind them. Nothing public describes the exception and review workflow, or whether order capture watches an email inbox versus working from uploads. Datacor also runs two parallel ERP code lines, C/S and VB/.NET, and no public document says which AI capabilities ship on which line; the one line-level signal is that the Rapid Order Entry session at Datacor's 2026 user conference ran in the C/S track. The security posture (customer data stays in Datacor systems, no LLM training on customer data) was stated in the June webinar, and we could not find it in written documentation.

None of that is a criticism; it's normal for vendor marketing. It does mean a Datacor shop evaluating this needs to get the answers in writing, and there is no independent documentation to check against, because no one outside Datacor publishes anything substantive about how these products work.

Datacor integrations: what exists and what doesn't

What it means if you're deciding now

Datacor's own research says 47 percent of chemical companies look to their existing software providers for AI, and its product strategy is clearly built on being that provider. For a single-ERP chemical distributor with standard emailed POs and vendor invoices, that's a reasonable bet, and the in-family products are the right first evaluation.

A custom AI order entry system, built by Airdev, earns consideration in the situations a vendor module doesn't reach: intake that spans more than Datacor (multiple systems, entities, or document types including RFQs), matching and review logic specific to how you operate, independence from a roadmap and pricing you can't see in advance, or a C/S deployment where you can't get a firm answer on availability. The integration reality shapes any custom route here. Datacor doesn't publish API documentation, so delivery into the ERP runs through its native EDI platform or through access arranged with Datacor, and we'd scope that with you before anything else.
